The Right to be Left Alone 04; Internet Privacy

Privacy on the internet is often sought by the use of anonymous names. Some people use anonymity for harmless fantasy play and others to discuss otherwise sensitive topics but the use of anonymity is not enough of a shield to prevent a person from being responsible for his actions in a cyber based world. Whether it is unwanted spam or hackers braking into your account, there is no question that being on the internet is by nature not a secure place where one would expect any real level of privacy. The laws that ordinarily govern the right of privacy within your state of residence often do not apply to the internet. As a rule the laws governing are the ones that apply in the country of the sending party not the receiving party. Here is a good research on US law and how it governs internet privacy;
