Since the approval of the VeriChip by the FDA in 2004, a chip implanted in the skin of a human for identification purposes, there has been a rise in the use and implementation of the chip worldwide. From a club in Spain using the chip as a “touchless payment” identifier to identifying emergency room patients medical records via the chip, the impact of this chip on the right to privacy has been history making.
